![]() Unless there's something hidden that is hardcoding controls (like the mouse acceleration in the software) then there's more than likely another file/script in place that needs altering as well. The scary part, I went ahead and created a quick script in auto hotkey, tested it in a few other games, but it won't work in Witcher 3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is no exception the myriad enemies in the game will not forgive you if you press the wrong button and cast a spell instead of blocking. F1-F4 are not used by default at all afaik. In an interactive medium such as video games, being in complete control of whatever is happening on the screen is of vital importance. As of the 3th patch (v1.04), you may change the locked keybinds by ticking an option. ![]() The Mouse Scroll Wheel is also considered one keybind, not seperate for up/down. At least I can refund this game since I got it on GOG in the event the devs sit on their rumps and do nothing to fix this joke of a keybind system. The Alt keys are considered one keybind, but L.Shift/R.Shift are seperate. I have even attempted to write the devs direct for help, I doubt I will get any. It's really funny "in a total fail moment on devs part", that the in-game keybind changer recognizes all of my keypad keys, but when making those changes in the actual ini file, they do not work.įor fun, I even deleted everything under the "Base_CharacterMovement" section and the game still runs just fine with both wsad and up,down, left, right in game, even though the ini file had them removed. I changed all info under "Base_CharacterMovement" to what I wanted on the keypad, but again, epic fail, nothing works. The scary part, I went ahead and created a quick script in auto hotkey, tested it in a few other games, but it won't work in Witcher 3.įrankly, I feel the devs wrote junk coding for forcing hard keybinds. I have been modifying this exact ini file and still unable to get my changes to take hold. I want to enjoy the game, but with no way to actually change my movement keys and other keybinds the way I play these games, I would rather walk away then continue a very frustrating experience. I know the game see's all my keypad keys, so at this point in time I am still beyond baffled as to how the game is perm "locked" all movements to keys I can't / don't use as a Lefty =(Īt least I can get a refund from GOG which will be the next step if the developers refuse to fix this mess quickly. So I know my autohotkey script is working just fine. Ok, maybe if I launch the game first, THEN run autohotkey. I go into the in-game keybind editor, and change my Jump key from spacebar to Numpad 5 just fine! It even shows up as Numpad 5 in the game! I do this again with all my numpad keys and they show up just fine in the game. Launched Witcher 3 again with autohotkey running, and guess what! NOPE! I am still unable to use my keypad for movement! I tested this in notepad once I launched the script, pressing w,s,a,d were translating to 5,2,1,3 correctly. So I tried using AutoHotKey, made the basic script
